Combat Dry Skin
Sometimes it does not matter what time of year it happens to be, but dry skin just happens. It’s annoying to have to deal with the tight and dry feeling, and to be honest, it is a bit embarrassing to have visible flakes on your face. Late nights out with the guys or your girl that involve some drinking can be a big cause for having dry skin. Also, hot showers can be a culprit. If you are ready to fight dry skin for good though, there are some tips that you can use.
- Make sure that you are getting your workout in. When you work out, you are pumping up the blood flow and circulation in the body that helps to refresh skin. Also, sweating causes the production of sebum, a natural oil and moisturizer.
- Keep showers short and sweet. Like earlier mentioned, if you like to take hot showers, you are likely to have drier skin. Same is to be said for long showers too. Longer and more frequent showering will actually wash away all of your skin’s natural oils that you need to stay moisturized.
- Get your own moisturizer. I made the mistake of using my girl’s moisturizer that she keeps in my bathroom for a few days when I was feeling especially dry. It actually did the opposite of give me the hydration I need. Turns out she has oily and acne prone skin, so her moisturizer made me flakier and drier. Get your own moisturizer. Luckily a lot of skin care brands have men’s lines so you don’t have to feel awkward buying a bottle of women’s moisturizer.
- Keep yourself as hydrated as possible. This means that you need to make sure that you are drinking plenty of water throughout the day. Also, those late nights drinking are dehydrating your body and skin, so make it a point to at least get some water in at some point through the night.
Follow all of the above tips and you should be good to go. Dry skin happens to the best of us, but at least now you know how you can prevent it. And another bonus to having moisturized and hydrated skin is that it takes years off of your face.
